22 Weeks!

My little helper was in the middle of a meltdown this morning, so sadly no pictures with him and his cute giraffe jammies :( Regarding week 22, I can no longer sleep on my stomach without pillow assistance, and even that is usually uncomfortable, so it's likely farewell to tummy sleeping until April. Baby still wants me up an average of 2 times a night to pee, which is tons o fun. I am still managing to find some regular tops that work to wear during the day, but obviously maternity fits and looks much better. Guess there's really not too much going on since last week...doctor appointment next Tuesday!

20 weeks!

Halfway there!!!!! Baby Banana is quite the mover! I feel this baby way more than I did with Jack at this point, but I assume that is pretty typical with second pregnancies. I also notice that my belly is noticeably bigger too - which I will also attribute to the fact that this is my second vs. my doctor's lecture last week :) I'm also carrying higher this time around, as evident in my comparison shot below

As with Jack's pregnancy, I can't say I really have anything to complain about the first 20 weeks. I am starting to have issues getting comfortable in the middle of the night, but that is due to trying to stop the stomach and back sleeping which I love both so much. Shots have been going fine so far, though I've had 3 and have had 3 different reactions, but my nurse says that is normal for this shot. Kinda crazy, but I'll take it if it helps cook this baby until April!

Best smile out of Jack to date!

Halloween Festivities

We had a lot of fun this Halloween season! We started things off with a trip to Creepy Hallow in Frankfort. It was the first day they opened, and they weren't quite ready for customers yet, but it worked out well for us b/c we were just about the only people there and had free reign over the entire place! Jack loved the pillow jumper and the corn pit.

The next weekend we met the Cubans and Liz at Bengston's. Highlights for Jack included the train ride and the petting zoo (not). Jack got pretty spooked by the goat's "baaaa" that we quickly had to exit the petting zoo and I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.

We carved pumpkins the weekend before Halloween. While I didn't think Jack would be too interested, I did think he would enjoy sticking his hands in the gushy pumpkin guts, but that was not the case. He chose to eat chips and watch Daddy do all the work.

For Halloween, he dressed up as a dinosaur and did so good! I was worried as my first costume attempt of an elephant, did not go over well. He wouldn't go near it and I had to come up with a plan B. Fortunately, I went with a costume that had the hood attached to it, and convinced him that it was his hood/hat that he needed to wear outside to go trick or treating, which we did to! It started out a little rough as we got poured on for the first 10 minutes, but then it cleared up and was perfect for us to hit a few houses. He was very hesitant to go up to doors at first, but eventually got the hang of it and enjoyed ringing the doorbells. Every once and a while he would say "treat" but most of the time he just held out his little basket and waited for candy :) We stopped over at the deZendegui house and Megan and Dylan came with us for a bit. Then it was off to the Stiches for some dinner and more treats.

22 Months!

Come on, 2 more months until this kid will be 2?! Impossible. I know I say it every month, but Jack is awesome. He is so fun, and has so much personality, every day just gets better and better. The other day Andrew had to call off work to stay home with him (will detail below) and he made the comment later that night that he could definitely be a stay at home Dad and play with Jack all day :)

- Jack is weighing in at 31lbs, gulp! We know this b/c he just went to the doc on Monday to make sure his nose was broken. Oy. Last weekend, he got clocked in the face while at the park by Grandma and Grandpa's house :( https://vimeo.com/80103149
Fortunately, his nose is getting better and has not bruised as bad as it looked like it was going to get. But he does really like going to see Dr. Paul, and anytime he hears the word doctor, he immediately says "Paul!" with a big smile on his face.
- in other injury news, we also have a gray/crooked tooth thanks to a fall in the driveway a few weeks go. Seriously getting him a bubble for Christmas!
- in happier news, Jack still loves going to music class :) Last night on the way there, he would randomly shout his word for "class" on the way there and just giggle. We have been singing a lot of the songs at home, and he loves them all and knows all the motions. Ring around the rosy is a family favorite before bedtime.
- he is smart :) He can identify several letters and can also say words that each letter starts with. M is for Mommy, G is for Ga. He also knows a ton of shapes (mostly by asking him where is the square, etc vs. him saying the word) and is getting the hang of colors. He can count to 10 (though after 4 they start to all sound the same until 9 and 10). But, his go to favorites for everything are B for letters, 2 for numbers and blue for color. He continues to be a whiz at operating the phone and iPad.
- He is still really getting into pretend play. He loves to take "sips" from what he calls "beer" (anything in a can or bottle), and still likes to feed his Elmo fork part of his meals. He and Andrew have started doing exercises together, and also a fun new dream game where they wake suddenly from naps and talk about what they dreamt about. That one is my new favorite.
- He is really into coloring, painting and playing with play doh. Hopefully Santa will bring him a nice arts and crafts table and a bunch of new supplies to play with :)
- He is in 2T clothes, though I think 3T (esp in 1 piece jammies) are coming up very quickly. He is a tall, solid boy! We were just commenting this morning on how tall he is, and I noticed at music class this week that he was towering over the girls his age in the class.
-He has developed a fear for live animals. We think it may have started with Lucy and her behavior towards the grandparents, but in any case he does not like to be around her and will avoid her as much as he can. He also now cries when the dogs behind us bark when we are outside, when it has never bothered him before, and was terrified of the Cubans' dog so much so that they had to put her in another room while we were there. I'm hoping this is just a phase that passes quickly, or we won't be heading to the zoo anytime soon!
- He still LOVES music class. this past week he was whining and crying for "classsss" the entire way home. The only thing that calmed him down was singing the songs we had just done in class. Also, at one point, Ms. Michelle looked over at me and said "he is such a sweet boy, such a sweet disposition." Made me smile. He is such a good, sweet boy :)

Week 19

Yesterday we got to see Baby Tomato at our ultrasound appointment. Baby weighed in at 9oz and was stretching and moving around quite a bit. He had his/her hand back behind her head and moving around his face quite a bit too, which was cute. We also saw a yawn which we saw with Jack too. Heartbeat was right around 150. Everything appeared to check out good, so that is the major important thing! I'm sad we won't get another look at the little nugget until birth day...trying to convince Andrew we should do a 4d ultrasound just for kicks. Wish me luck :)

The doctor also scolded me for my weight gain in the past 4 weeks. Ironically, I had a similar spurt at this point with Jack as well, and it was the same doctor giving me pretty much the exact same speech yesterday. Fun times.

Think it's time to stop the Kim Kardashian approach and wear maternity tops. This sweater is looking rather short!
