Growing!

Today Jack and I took a trip down to Mokena to hang out with Grandma, Grandpa and the Quirke kiddos. It was such a nice day out, we had fun hanging out on the driveway for a while before heading inside for some lunch and a nap. Before we left, I got on the scale with Jack and he is definitely now over 11 lbs! We also took a football pic last week and it is clear he is gaining some serious ground!  I'm excited to see how much more he can pack on before his 3 month check up next Friday.

Smiley Face

I'm calling it - we have a smiler! The past 2 mornings we've gotten some pretty genuine grins out of Jack so it's safe to now finally say he's smiling :) YAY

Big Boy Bed

Last night Jack was a bit cranky so we decided to put him down for the night a bit earlier. Since we weren't ready to go to bed yet ourselves, Andrew suggested we try the crib. The result? He did great! It took him a bit to settle down at first, but he eventually fell asleep and did a great job of getting himself to sleep after his 2 feedings. I was very impressed that his first attempt was such a success! I will say that at first I was a bit unsure about the move - as I was getting into bed I found myself getting a little teary eyed thinking he was so far away, but then I told myself to stop being such a spazz and knock it off :) Super proud of little Jacque and fingers crossed he'll do just as good tonight.

Cousinly Love

On Saturday, we ventured down to Frankfort so Jack could meet the Ristich cousins! Of course, Grandma and Grandpa and the Quirkes came over and a fun time was had by all :)

Max whispered to Jack "Jack, you're the best!"

Look Who's 2 Months Old!

I am a few days late in writing this post for Jack's big 2 monthday (happy 9 weeks today), but I think I've needed the extra days to let it sink in that another month has come and gone already! I can't believe how fast this past month has gone, although when you take a look at his 2 month pic compared to his 1 month, you can see that Jack has taken full advantage of the past month - he looks so much bigger! And he actually is so much bigger. At his 2 month check up on Friday he weighed in at a sturdy 9lbs 13.5 ounces :) Here are his other monthly stats:

- 9lbs 13.5 oz puts him in the 5-10 percentile without correcting his age. With the 6 week correction, he is right at the 50% mark. He is now 21.25 inches (2% non adjusted; 50% adjusted) and head is 37.5 cm (2% non adjusted; 50% adjusted). He is doing great and the doc was really pleased with his growth again this month :)
- The doc was also pleased with his head control on his tummy and how he was focusing in on me during his exam, good signs of "catch up" development for our little preemie.
- I've been saying this for the past few weeks but he is still soooo dang close to smiling! I think Andrew and I have both had moments where we've said "that's a for sure smile" but he's not quite there yet. While at the doc's office, Jack and I were talking and the doc even pointed out that his expression was super close.
- Jack has graduated to size 1 diapers! And, he is very quickly running out of room in his newborn sleepers. While this actually makes me a bit sad that my little peanut isn't such a peanut anymore, I am very pumped to open up a new set of adorable wardrobe options!
- He still does really good "playing" on his activity mat. He really loves to focus in on the owl and tweety bird animals that dangle overhead. And he is doing a much better/consistent job of tracking things across his face.
-6-7pm is now the witching hour. Some days we avoid it completely but other days we aren't so lucky and are forced to dance around the living room singing and dancing (his favorite song is "Just Want to Dance to Mommy").
- He is still shacking up with Mommy and Daddy but my goal is to have him in his crib by the time I head back to work in a month. We'll see how that goes as currently he's screaming his head off in his crib while attempting to nap in there right now.
- Speaking of sleeping he is doing ok at night typically doing 2.5-3.5 hour stretches. Every once and a while he'll pull off a 4 hour stretch (heavenly) or the dreaded 2 hour stretch (hell) but I know it could be a lot worse.  Doc said with his weight gain he should start to go longer at night so I'm trying to be as patient as possible for that to start :)

I think that's about it for now! Here are some pics from the past couple of weeks:
