Happiest 3 months to our Madelyn Lou! Let's get down to it:
- She is insanely smiley and sweet. She smiles all. the. time. and it's the cutest damn thing I've ever seen. And she knows it. There are times at nap time or bedtime when she is having a hard time settling down, and I'll be standing over the crib trying to give her the pacifier, and she'll just look up and give the biggest smile like "don't be mad Mommy. Look how cute I am!" And it works :) She also loves to sit with Daddy in the morning and listen to him count or sing the ABCs. She is talking a bunch and has had some really good giggles. Just like her brother, she loves Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes too.
- She is obsessed with chewing on her hands. I keep feeling to see if there is a tooth coming, but I think she just loves to suck on them.
-She is starting to reach for things. This morning she was mesmerized by a pic of the Alma Mater on Andrew's shirt and was totally grabbing at it. I-L-L...
- She takes 3 4.5oz bottles during the workday, and then eats 3 times with me. I am still waking her up at 10pm for a feeding, but I think I may start seeing if she can go without soon and just pump up the bottles during the day. Pretty sure she can go all night...at least I hope she can!
- For the past 3 weeks, she's had what appears to be a weird tummy virus. We've made a couple trips to the doc this month, but all seems ok and we're hoping it will just run it's course. She has been happy as a clam so thankfully nothing seems to be bothering her.
- still an inconsistent napper. Some days she can rip out a monster nap or two, other days (like today) she'll take 4 short naps. Bedtime is usually right around 7pm, and she's asleep by 7:30. She is still swaddled for most naps (some she takes on her tummy) and at night, but she is learning how to bust out of them and does so almost nightly. Some nights that wakes her up, sometimes not.
- she still wears 3month clothes, but can do 6 month stuff too. Moving on up to size 2 diapers, though 1s still work too
- She has crazy good head control, and prefers to be facing out when held so she can check everything out. She can chill in the Bumbo with no problem
- She still loves tummy time, mostly b/c it gives her another opportunity to chew on her hands.
- She is very observant. She will definitely focus in on bright colored cartoons on the tv and loves toys that spin and have lights/movement.
- We had a busy holiday weekend with a BBQ at the Cubans and the zoo. She did great at both, just hanging out, and even took a little snooze with Megan.
- No doc check up this month, but when we took her in a couple of weeks ago she was 13lb 6oz. She did lose a little bit (or not gained as much) during the first week of the virus, but I can definitely tell that she is gaining weight again and keeping some good meat on her legs. And she has great cheeks too :)
Love you so much, Maddie Lou! You are the cutest!!!
Jack Harold is 2 and a half, whoa! And he certainly keeps us entertained and going nonstop!
- He is a crazy little talker. He repeats everything, says full sentences, and comes up with some pretty wacky things on his own to say. For example, while outside, he and Andrew see a bee. Jack says "like them. Yummy and tasty." He also has the funniest inflections. "I don't knnnnoooooww"
- One of my favorite things to do with him these days is go to the grocery store. He talks constantly, calling out everything he recognizes up and down the aisles, points out other shoppers "lady coming now". "Other cart coming now," shouts requests "get some bananas", "go pay lady now" and loves putting all of the groceries on the belt.
- He is also super awesome at pretend play. He loves to play Berkots with Grandpa Jim and get "cold beer and chips", he sells everything under the sun at "Jack's Store" for $2 to Grandma Susan and Grandpa T, loves to play lions with Daddy, and play "sleep in Mommy's bed" which is one of my favorites :) The other night we acted out a typical day (wake up, get dressed, brush teeth, eat, etc) for a solid 30 minutes.
- He loves to help cook, which I enjoy doing with him, and it's also good because not only does it keep him busy, but helps broaden his horizons in terms of what new foods he tries. To tie into the grocery store trips, a couple of weeks ago we picked up some muffins to make, and he said "make muffins together" for the rest of the trip through the store. He even told the bagger in check out when she asked what he was going to do that day.
- WE ARE PACIFIER FREE! Totally unplanned, but one Sunday night just before bed I noticed his 1 remaining pac had a huge hole in it. Andrew was upstairs with Madelyn so I just had to wing it, and told him he couldn't use it and if he buried it in the sandbox a present would grow in it's place (thank you Kristy for the tactic). He was all excited to bury it, and despite me reminding him over and over and over again, that once pac was buried that was it, as soon as he covered it with sand and I said "bye bye, pac" he erupted in tears. It was so instantaneous I actually started laughing. It took a couple of weeks (though he never actually cried for it specifically, was just very emotional and fidgety) and a trip down from the north mountain from Sven, but I think we are totally in the clear with that one. Phew! Now on to potty training...
- He loves Lion King and Frozen, and Mickey and Thomas. He sings all the songs from the shows and it's super adorable. He'll be jabbering away in bed at night and we'll hear him bust out "Be preparrrrred" or "love is an open dorrrrrrr"
-He's made some great strides in the coordination department. He can now hop all around and off of things, can pedal and loves to run all the time. Gymnastics has been wonderful for him, even though he still struggles to focus during the entire class :)
These 2 nuggets certainly keep us busy, and there are many days where we feel like we're losing our minds, but all of the giggles, hugs and love makes us forget the craziness (sometimes :)).
